Thanksgiving’s Day, October 12th, is the day to remember how lucky you were/are to be discovered by the great Italian sailor Cristoforo Colombo.
Due to the fact he is not around anymore for obvious reasons, you can show your appreciation to me in the appropriate way (gift cards and such are accepted).
We both came from the same city Genoa and it will be my honor do leave your appreciation at his house during my next trip.
For those of you stating that the Vikings came to America before my famous citizen, I remind them that 80% of the English words come from Latin e.g. Italian: think what a conversation the Vikings were able to put up with the remaining 20%...
For those of you stating that the Cristoforo Colombo was Spanish or alike, I just want to indicate that the Spaniards were able not even to sail outside the Mediterranean Sea, think about cross the ocean …
A portrait of Cristoforo Colombo is hung in my office and can be worshiped at your request.

With pure love

Not bad considering he was trying to find India. He only missed by half a world. And on behalf of the Native Americans, I would like to say thanks, one whole heck of a lot.

My Scandinavian heritage gives me no choice but to credit the discovery of North America to Leifr Ericson, the great Norse explorer who walked the shores of this great continent hundreds of years before Mr. Columbus. Unfortunately, I have nothing in my office commemorating this great achievement, so you will have to travel north to Duluth and pay proper homage to this great explorer from inside the park there that bears his name.

Actually, I prefer to believe that St. Brendan of Ireland gets the credit.

Nonetheless, I certainly admire Columbus. He was a great explorer, with an outstanding first name.

I’m just thankful this country is named America rather than Vespucciland.
